University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) has become the first university in the UAE to partner with NCUK, a leading UK-based consortium, to offer students the opportunity to study an internationally recognized foundation course in Dubai and receive a guaranteed placement before travelling abroad to study for a bachelor degree at a leading university in their chosen country.
What is the International Foundation Year?
The International Foundation Year (IFY) is a qualification designed with our university partners to prepare you for first year entry to bachelor’s degree. Studying with NCUK in your home country will give you the confidence you need before you start your degree.
International Foundation Year qualification will help bridge the gap between your local qualification and university study and is designed to give you the academic and English language skills needed to succeed at an international university.

Who awards the qualifications?
Upon successful completion of the International Foundation Year, you will receive a certificate from NCUK showing that you have passed the course and a transcript that details your individual module results.
NCUK’s International Foundation Year is formally recognised by leading universities worldwide allowing you to gain access to top-ranked international universities.
This program is also accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE Ministry of Education and are licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).
Progression to Bachelors
Upon successful completion of the International Foundation Year, students will receive wide range of opportunities to study in countries such as Australia, UK, USA, New Zealand, Canada, France and more. Students will have the certainty of knowing that they have passed the foundation program before travelling overseas for higher education.
